Château de La Rivière 2014

Millésime

2014

ROGER VOSS - THE WINE ENTHUSIAST 91 / 100

Full of bright red-berry flavors and spiced with the wood aging, this is a generous, fruit-driven wine. The tannins are still softening but already the wine is attractively balanced. Keep this wine for a few more years and drink from 2020.

JANCIS ROBINSON 16 / 20

Dark crimson. Hint of slightly raw oak on the nose. Then some admirably luscious fruit. Really very subtle with ripe fruit, relatively low-key acid and tannin. Actually, you could almost drink this now! Racy and just the right side of herbaceous. Good freshness. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and hope that it settles down. But the balance is excellent. Long and vigorous. Drink 2017-2025.

JAMES MOLESWORTH - THE WINE SPECTATOR 89 / 100

Ripe and fresh, with bitter plum and red currant preserve notes carried by lively acidity and fine, chalky tannins. Has a snap of tobacco leaf on the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Drink now through 2022. 33,000 cases made.

BETTANE & DESSEAUVE 15 / 20 - 89 / 100

JEAN-MARC QUARIN 14,75 / 20 - 86 / 100

SACRÉ SUPER PÉPITE - GRAND CERCLE EN 2018  N° 1 DES FRONSACS

NEAL MARTIN 87 - 89 / 100

The Château de la Rivière 2014 has an elegant, low-key nose at first, but opens with confidence in the glass and offers wild strawberry and red plum scents. The palate is harmonious with wellintegrated oak, quite refined and delineated with commendable precision on the finish. With the tragedy that has surrounded this estate in recent years, it is pleasing to see this Fronsac producing better and better wine each year.

JEFF LEVE - THE WINE CELLAR INCIDER 88 / 100

Fresh, juicy, round, forward and offering loads of ripe black cherry licorice, smoke and earthy characteristics. Even at this young stage, this is already quite tasty and easy to drink. With a few years, this could be even better as it fills out and gains more weight.

ANDREAS LARSSON - TASTED 88 / 100

Medium towards deep ruby colour. Pure nose showing fresh wild berries, some floral notes and a hint of wood. Medium weight, still with a tannic presence, young fruit, a hint of vanilla and wood with a quite long finish. Still young and tight though, needs some more time.

BERNARD BURTSCHY - LE FIGARO 15 / 20

Un vin dense, tannique, austère, les tannins sont durs, il sèche en finale. Gardez-le trois ans et vous aurez une belle bouteille.

JAMES LAWTHER - DECANTER 86 / 100

Open, red fruit nose with a toach of vanilla oak. Chocolate oak on the palate but well integrated. Plenty of fruit. Firm, if slightly drying finish.

CUISINE ACTUELLE - HORS SERIE

Ses tanins présents sont domptés, l'élevage en barrique respecte le fruit du merlot et du cabernet. On peut garder ce vin aux moins dix ans ou le boire de suite sur un gigot d'agneau.
