For the pleasure of spending a stay in the middle of the vineyards in a place steeped in history, the Château de La Rivière is an address not to be missed. The 5 guest rooms of the château all encourage relaxation and embody a refined art of living that can also be extended by tasting a wine from the estate by the pool: from here, you can enjoy the splendid view of the vines and the Dordogne below.

Nathalie, the château's housekeeper, will delight your taste buds with her famous breakfasts: buffet style, sweet or savoury, there is something for everyone. Treat yourself to pastries, cereals, special breads, dairy products, seasonal fruit... Those who prefer it can try fresh eggs, cold meats, cheeses but also Nathalie's suggestions, who cooks according to the market products; pancakes, French toast, cakes...

We offer our guests a visit to the cellars and a tasting of our wines. Don't forget to make an appointment when you book your room, there are many requests!

The MARQUIS Room

Facing the Dordogne, this spacious 47m² room, located in one of the two square towers in the central part of the castle, will fulfil your dreams of castle life. 

The bedroom has a double bed (180 x 200), a bathroom with bath and shower and a dressing room. It is possible to replace the double bed with two single beds.

For your comfort: a special lift takes you directly to the second floor of the castle, at the door of your room. A safe, a small fridge, a kettle, a coffee machine and a television are also at your disposal. The wifi is free of charge.

The MARIE-CHARLOTTE Room

Marie Charlotte Hippolyte de Campet de Saujon, Countess de Boufflers, is an illustrious character in the history of the Château de La Rivière. She was the owner of the castle until the French Revolution and left behind the famous Bain des Dames, the emblematic place of the Château de La Rivière. She was also the confidante of Jean-Jacques Rousseau.

The Marie Charlotte room is located in the renaissance wing of the castle, on the third floor, and covers 28m². It has an attic with a 160 x 200 bed and a 140 x 200 sofa bed and has an en-suite bathroom and toilet. There is no possibility of a single bed.

The colours and the romantic atmosphere of this room will delight your romantic stays.

The VIOLLET-LE-DUC Room

Eugène Viollet-le-Duc is a very famous architect, especially for his participation in the restoration of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris in the 19th century. He also left his mark on other famous buildings such as Mont Saint Michel and the Cité de Carcassonne. It was his pupil Edmond Duthoit who commissioned the major renovation work on the Château de La Rivière at the end of the 19th century.

The Viollet Le Duc room is located in the renaissance wing of the castle and covers 29m². It has a double bed (200 x 200) or two single beds (100 x 200) and a beautiful bathroom with bath and shower.

Access to: the Tisanerie, the Salons and the swimming pool.

The Suite CHARLEMAGNE

In 769, Charlemagne, who was in the midst of reconquering Aquitaine, had a fortified camp established in the La Rivière wood, 300 metres from the castle. Today, a feudal mound dating from that time still remains.

The Charlemagne Suite is composed of 2 communicating rooms located on the first floor of the renaissance wing: it is ideal for families. The first room is 17m² and has a 160 x 200 bed. The second room is 26m² and can be fitted with a double bed (180 x 200) or two single beds (90 x 200). Both rooms have their own bathroom and toilet

The ALIENOR Room

A patron of the arts, an inspiration to poets and a true political leader, Eleanor of Aquitaine is a key figure of the 12th century. Twice crowned queen, first of the Franks, then of England, she overturned the codes and traditions of the time by playing a preeminent role in public affairs.

Alienor's room, with a surface area of 19m², is located on the second floor of the renaissance wing. It has a 160 x 200 bed, a private bathroom with en suite toilet.
